American identity authentication systems provider IdenTrust has entered a partnership with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) for the supply of high assurance digital identities.

The Commonwealth Bank is the third Australian bank to the IdenTrust identity scheme and will join business customers with IdenTrust digital identities to provide authentication and electronic signature capabilities for customers access to certain online applications. The Commonwealth Bank has also granted IdenTrust a five year contract for the provision of the Certificate Authority hosting services.

The identity IdenTrust scheme allows the banks to a single digital identity to give to a client that can be used with any web-based application, on any network in more than 175 countries around the world. Digital identities are fully interoperable with other banks that are members of the IdenTrust network.
